Commodities of Indonesia
“The Java War cost the lives of over 15,000 Dutch Soldiers and 200,000 Javanese.”( In the 15th and 16th century commodities in Indonesia was a big deal as there are spices which grow there like nutmeg, turmeric, cloves and many more which does not grow in other places as there are not a lot of tropical countries discovered yet during the 15th and 16th century making the spices really expensive and rare and also making whichever country holds Indonesia monopolies on the spices grown their as some spices are only grown in Indonesia. The first evidence of commodities affecting Indonesia was when traders had just established the Indian trade route. The trade route is a route for trading in southeast Asian countries like India, Philippines and Indonesia. Since Indonesia is now part of the Indian trade route not only is Indonesia now a hub for traders and commodities it is also a hub for information/new technologies and religion to. Since most of the traders that came to Indonesia to trade was Muslim Indonesians think that converting into Muslim would help make trading with the Muslim traders easier and that it could further their relationship. Then Muslim Influence spread through out Java and soon converted major kingdoms and their leaders, the first being the Sultan of Demak who converted into Islam. Then The now Muslim Sultan Raden Fatah spread Islam towards the cities of Cirebon and Banten and then to the northern coast of Java into The kingdom of Gresik. Feeling Threatened by the rising power of Demak Sultanate, the last king of the Majapahit empire (Prabhu Udara) decided to attack the Demalk Sultanate and Demak itself with the help of The King of KlungKung on Bali in the year 1513. The affect of Commodites On Indonesia’s Religion is massive as entire kingdoms and soon almost entirely the Country converted to Islam just because of Muslim Traders trading of spices in Indonesia. But if Indonesia was not known for their commodities they
