The cotton gin was invented by a man named eli whitney. He was born on December 8 1765 in Westborough, Massachusetts. He is best known for his invention called the cotton gin. This machine separated the cotton from the seeds of the plant. It really sped up production of clothes and other things that include cotton. He was also big into developing the concept of mass production and interchangeable parts for pretty much everything. The cotton gin sped up the industries by mass producing large amounts of cotton. But on the negative part, it increased the growth of slavery. But you would think that it would’nt because you would think that it would decrease human labor for a lot of slaves. But it actually increased it because it did not help GROW
