China’s Economic and Political History China has had a very drastic revolution in its economic and political aspects within the past 50 years. The Cultural Revolution began in August of 1966, by the Chinese Communist, Mao Zedong insisting that any type of bourgeois values occurring in the government or within political leaders must be put to an end immediately. “Mao shut down all of China’s schools and demanded the youth to kill the current party leaders. Red Guard groups were created by the youth in which they attacked people and fought against democratic society. These groups spread across the globe which turned into mass violence of millions victimized and killed (History.com).” People did not only die, but they were put into prisons, were tortured and seized from their property. This revolution caused majority of the Chinese to lose trust in their government. Once the Cultural Revolution ended in 1975, the economy was on its way to recovering due to the governmental reformation after Mao’s death. …show more content…
“The reform began to combine both regulation by market to later on have an implementation of the socialist market economy (Juan Antonio Fernández).” The agricultural advances within the past few decades have drastically impacted the country. The boost in food production has helped the country’s economy by allowing the production of goods to be sold to other countries allowing China to gain a greater profit. “This success was largely accomplished through agricultural policy and trade reform, food market liberalization, and public investment in agricultural infrastructure and agricultural research (Jing Zhu).” Agriculture and food policies allowed China to have food security. China not only has a sufficient amount of food to feed all of the people within their country, but China also provides enough food for about one-fifth of the world when it is considered the world’s most populous
