How the Hoover Dam exemplifies the recovery of the United States. The United States was going through a great depression during the time the Hoover Dam was being constructed. With unemployment rates in the double digits and many Americans struggling to provide for their families, the Hoover Dam was a symbol of innovation and growth that many Americans saw as a way forward. The project provided relief to thousands of Americans looking for work, was the start of environmental change in America, and, because of legislation like the New Deal, was the start of confidence in America

The NRA (National Recovery Administration), The AAA (Agricultural Adjustment Administration), The CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps), NIRA (National Industrial Recovery Act), The PWA (Public Works Act), and the Emergency Banking Relief Act were all programs that helped America gain some trust from its citizens. During the second New Deal, the Social Security Act was implemented. Although a short amount of time later, some of these programs were found to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. NIRA was later found to be unconstitutional and was disbanded a year or two later. The Public Works Act was one of the programs in the New Deal that was crucial and helped the extension of funding needed to finish construction of the project and other major projects. This helped create many jobs during the construction of Hoover Dam, which also led to economic recovery. Jobs created. The creation of these new projects, along with the many new programs, led to the creation of new work opportunities for the American people. The CCC was dedicated to the employment of young men between certain ages. These opportunities of employment would range from tree planting, firefighting, road construction, soil erosion control, water management, wildlife refuges, and other infrastructure projects but in this instance did not contribute to the construction of

Public Works was a program that helped fund the construction of Hoover Dam. This led directly to employment opportunities at the dam. Over 20,000 people were employed in the construction of the dam and the jobs would range from many different positions. High scalers would help remove loose rock from the surveyed site where the dam was to be built. The surveyors were responsible for mapping out the construction site and ensuring the plan was followed accordingly. By default, there were also construction workers which were responsible for pouring concrete and the assembling of many structures of the dam. Laborers would help with general tasks and assist the more skilled workers. Engineers were the main ones who constructed the electrical systems of the dam. The engineers focused on the generation and distribution of the power generated by the dam. The job was vital because the generators are still used today and still power certain states. All these jobs were significant in building back the confidence of the United States government and helped with the recovery in the economy. Finance and Confidence With both New Deals came many financial
