Electricity itself is a very important exploration. Electricity’s discovery is one of the most important discoveries in history. Electricity’s discovery started off with the Greeks as previously stated. Then, when electricity became more popular and was a drive for exploration, many famous historical figures started discovering more of electricity. People wanted to discover more about electricity because they thought it would change the world and that they would become famous for it. Also, this happened at this time because people wanted change in the world. Which is exactly what happened. In 1752, Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity through lightning with a kite in Pennsylvania. Obviously there are many more famous figures like Nikola Tesla and his design of then modern current electricity supply system. Also, in 1878 Thomas Edison and his invention of the light bulb. He wanted to build a device that could power up a room and that would be better than the typical gas and oil based lighting systems. Joseph Glidden and Charles Francis Washburn and other contributors are credited with the invention of barbed wire. They are also credited with exploring the dangers of electricity and what it can do. During the mid to late 1800s around America, they were building barbed wire. They wanted to find a way to protect people’s houses and something that would make people not climb fences. When Glidden came up with barbed wire, he saw the dangers of electricity. He saw that it was very lethal, and warned many people around him. According to the newspaper Boston Daily Globe on June 30, 1892, the invention of electricity raised the question of the fear of electricity. “The invention of barbed wired fences raised the question, is electricity going too far? People still need to find out more about it and what it is capable of doing. Barbed wire fence is used to protect the inventor's house, Mr. Washburn.” This shows that the fear of electricity was growing and people needed to find more about it in order to use it in everyday
