It all began in a little small town in Montgomery, Alabama. When a little African American woman got on a bus. When she was told to give up her seat she said no and that was the “kick-off” of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. It had all started that day in December. 1st, 1955 the day that she had said no it set off almost a “forest fire” in the south. There was a uprising in the states and the person whom have helped with this was Martin Luther King Jr. Many people believe that the act of Rosa Parks was a reaction after hard days of work and that all of this was not planned. In the picture of her arrest or her mugshot she looks like she was fearless on that day. She looked like a woman who wasn’t afraid to stand up for something she believed in. Another big key role that played with the success of the bus boycott was Martin Luther King Jr. He was a pastor in a black church; the big role that came with this was the Christian movement, or a non-violent movement. To give their movement a little bit of a push. They needed a respected member of the community to be arrested for violating city bus laws. Those who had created the one day bus boycott created the organization Montgomery Improvement Association. MLK was elected there president. MIA had to decide to whether continue with the boycott or bask in the success of the one day boycott. During this day it was very dark for the bus companies they realized since most of the buses mainly have all blacks on them. Without people the buses where pointless. And if they didn’t have service the buses would eventually go unused then the city would have to get rid of
