John Hanning Speke discovered the source of the Nile on August 3rd, 1858. The Nile is the largest, and longest river in the world and flows throughout many different countries. The Nile crocodile is the most common reptile in the Nile River, the Crocodile is known for being vicious predator, catching mid-sized aniamls and drowning them. The Nile River is the largest and most interesting river in the world because of the length and location,the different living species in this body of water, and the effections of the things around it. This river effects man different countries humans and animals use this as a way of life,such as water sources for drinking and for human washing themselves and their clothes. The animals use this water for many different things the water is a way of life for most animals around the Nile for drinking purposes and for food such as eating other animals. This water way is also a way of life for humans because of washing clothes themselves and some use it for drinking water. The Nile is home to many people such as humans and animals. Around 40 million people (half of Egypt’s population) live in the Nile Delta region.The Ancient Egyptian civilization was dependent on the Nile for drinking water, food, trade and transportation. It also provided rich soil, that was great for growing crops. As rainfall is almost non-existent in Egypt, the people were dependent on the yearly floods, caused by heavy rainfall in Ethiopia, which supplied moisture and left thick rich mud, ideal for cultivation. The river serves as a major source of transportation. This is especially true during the flood season when road transportation in many areas along the river is impossible.
