In 1911, a tragedy happened in the great state of New York. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire put a huge hole in many citizens hearts as lives were lost and injuries were severe and some untreatable back in the days. With one hundred and six lives that were lost and seventy-one people injured, this event was the most deadliest in the New York city until the terrorist attack ninety years later and still remains one of the deadliest in the United States. It affected America socially, politically and economically by owners being unfair, women not being treated equally and victims not getting the care they needed or deserved. On March 25th, 1911, the deadliest tragedy happened in New York City. A rapid fire occurred on the eighth, ninth, and tenth floor of the Asch Building in the lower east side of Manhattan. This caused harm to multiple families as they struggled to identify bodies at the morgue. The buildings doors were locked by managers to protect theft and their was only building escape way for people to escape out of. Most people were trapped in by large machines and there was only a couple buckets of water to try and help extinguish the fire to keep everyone safe. The victims were broke and unable to provide for their children and families after the accident. The laws made it hard for women to get jobs to pay for their living and food for the house and that caused the society to go down hill. The effects of this tragedy started to become active in the women’s suffrage movement which was to protest against women’s rights in the 1900’s. This movement went on for a long time until women were eventually treated as equal as men were in wages, hours, working conditions and child labor
