Assimilation into Military Sub-Culture The military culture is its own culture within the majority culture that is in the United States. This means that those that come into the military have a new set of norms to adjust to and possibly a new set of oppression to face it if applicable to them. With the amount of African American women in the military is increasing and is causing more and more of them to assimilate to the military’s sub-culture.
Soldier's Heart Charley and the soldiers experienced bad weather and food situations. the clothing was horrible on side had cloths and one had little bits and pieces of clothing most wore different uniforms. plus in the battles the confederation would hide in the trees and land because they know the land better than the union. the union camps built a hut and they weren't that good either they had no spot for a chimney so the smoke built up so charley dug a hole and put the fire in a trench/ditch and the fire went out. in the book charly also traded with the rebels.
Though they both started expansion around the same time, they did so at different points within their own developing empire. The Spanish had already established themselves as distinct European states but Russia was still taking shape into what is now the modern Russian empire. When the Spanish went to the Americas they were looking for new opportunities and ended up having their main economic foundation for their colonial states be in commercial, agricultural, silver and gold mining. Russia expanded because in the south and east of them they felt that the nomadic pastoral people posed a security threat, but to the east there were no threats but the fur pelts that were in great demand drew them in. So both empires expanded to obtain new resources and conquer new lands, but they conquered different areas during different times in their empires

Culture affects how one views others and the world around them in a large way as shown by past experiences, heritage, and family. Family affects our culture because the people we spend our life with have such a large impact on the way we act. Moreover our past experiences affect us by learning from what we and others do and the result. Things one has experienced in the past greatly affects how one views the world. This is clearly shown in Robert Lake’s(Medicine Grizzlybear’s) essay, “An Indian Father’s Plea.”
The Soldier’s Shoes “The United States has 1.1 million soldiers and 400,000 civilians and contracted employees if they were a city it would be the 4th largest in the United States”. In this essay I will be talking about the soldier from the short story “Sniper”. And to explain why the soldier lives up to the high standards of being a soldier for the United States of America. What standards do you believe a United States soldier must have and follow? What many people do not realize is, soldiers are risking their lives to protect us and our country.

Life for the Union Soldier was not only brutal on the battlefield, but the camp life for a Union soldier was just as cruel. With the lack of personal hygiene, unsavory and repugnant food, and the shortage of clothing made living, a very difficult thing to do. Growth in the number of people with diseases was also a contributing factor to the massive amounts of death within the camp and as well as the post-battle wounds that often left either a man with one less limb or put in a mental institution. A Union Soldier’s life during the Civil War was cruel and horrific during their stay at the camps.
In order to run a successful organization, especially a good standing Army, there needs to be quality leaders within the organization. Leaders are artists, remaining flexible and adaptable in order to conform to any certain situation. In FM 6-22, leadership is defined as, “the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improve the organization”. The vast majority of successful Army leaders exemplify this definition in their everyday life. So, what exactly does this process involve?
In the newly expanded nation’s first census, ethnographers counted 104 distinct nationalities and 146 languages and dialects spoken across the Russian population. The heterogeneity made political integration very complicated (Worlds Together Worlds Apart, 660-661). Thus, the Tsar forced his subjects with certain nationalities to assimilate to Russian religious and cultural norms.
As a leader, we are obligated to be the prime example and enforce the Army Values and Warrior Ethos. Leaders should apply the army values and warrior ethos every day while on duty and off duty. Sometime as leader we do not notice that we apply in basic and big task. The army has place meaning for the army values and warrior. As leader we have different meaning what the army values and warrior ethos mean to us.
This definition raises another issue, namely that we need to know what an ethnic group is. The German sociologist Matthias Rompel characterizes an ethnic group by means of the belief in a collective, background, collective history and collective customs, all leading to the development of a group identitiy (cf. Rompel 657). Important aspects to note here are the characteristics of different ethnic groups that play an important role throughout the drama.
This chapter explains the difference between race and ethnicity and how they came about. It also explains the advantages and disadvantages some have due to the creation of race. Race and ethnicity have strong foundations not only within countries, but between them. Globalization has increased the individual’s ethnic identities, but has also put some at disadvantages. Having different races and ethnicities is not an issue, but ranking the different races and putting others at disadvantages creates issues.
Army Values Essay The Seven Values are Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. The Army Values are important and guide soldiers and leaders to do what is right on a day to day basis within their career. The Army Values are known as the foundation of the army. Even though people know the meaning of these values, not everyone actually lives up to them, but soldiers are taught in Basic Combat Training (BCT) the details of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.
Not committing to the task could potentially suggest that they were incompetent or lack the capacity as a military personnel so facing ‘dangers’ was a much preferred option. Additionally, discipline in the military can be seen when an officer makes his salutes appropriately, their conduct, to the state of their uniform and even how they present themselves in public. While discipline in military is rewarded as it is a sign of respect and duty, misconduct on the other hand is punishable. When discipline is lacking in an army personnel, it not only affects their own performance but also the team as a whole. It is therefore important to instil discipline early and effectively.
