The Americans responded to the External and Internal challenges. It was the late 1700s, the U.S. was organizing a new country. At the same time they had conflicts with Europe. George Washington was chosen the first president of United States. He also set many precedents. Then the first political parties came. It was the republicans and the federalists. There were many troubles at home and abroad during John Adams and George Washington’s presidency. George Washington taking off, the birth of political parties and the troubles at home and abroad were all a part of americans responding to internal and external challenges. George washington also organized a central government and he dealt with the Whiskey Rebellion. Some of his precedents were that he was called Mr. President and always rode his white horse called Nelson. He served for 2 terms and he also decided the location of White House. In the central government the legislative branch had 2 branches: the house of representative and the senate. There were some future problems too. Both parties were against each other, the republicans vs federalists. Federalists supported a strong central government but the Republicans wanted more state power less national government power. Federalists supported Loose Interpretation but the Republicans supported the Strict Interpretation. Federalists had problems with the French and the Republicans had problems with Britain. The next biggest disagreement between the two political parties were the Alien and Sedition Acts. Due to the federalists party, John Adams was elected and under him many problems
