Teddy Roosevelt: The First Modern President Forty-four presidents have had the honor and privilege to serve our country and put forth their ideas. Although this group is small, the majority of presidents are forgotten by the general public because of their complacency or lack of credible achievements in office. The memorable leaders of the United States are highlighted in movies, documentaries and classes. The effective presidents usually win wars, create financial prosperity or solve a crisis or issue.
Franklin Roosevelt was a very influential and important president in American history who had an immense impact on the American economy and social policy during the 1930’s and 40’s and throughout the future of America, he also shared some ideas with the author John Steinbeck. He idolized Theodore Roosevelt, and took great inspiration from him. He has served as president for longer than any other president in history, serving for three terms instead of the usual two that is generally accepted as the maximum amount of time that a president can serve. He drove America out of the great depression and through the second world war.
Theodore Roosevelt had many accomplishments, and most of them were not during his presidency. There were many other important events that happened before his presidency, and some of them affected Roosevelt’s life tremendously. From October 27th, 1858 to September 14th, 1901, the amount of important events relating to Roosevelt is astonishing. Roosevelt had done many things during his early life like helping others, reading, writing, hunting, and much more.
Prior to losing the election of 1912, he helped the U.S with by doing anything he could to uphold America and its citizens. He also aided in American access to the Panama Canal. On economical terms, Roosevelt was the trust-buster, breaking all of the bad trusts in big businesses. He also was the president who enforced the Sherman Antitrust Act. Socially, he preserved millions of acres of land, entitling citizens to interact and have leisure time, and wildlife to prosper.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States of America, was a successful president in office because of his ability to get America through the Great Depression and most of WWII. Franklin D. Roosevelt as president played a major role in bringing America through the Great Depression after WWI with the implementation of the New Deal. The New Deal provided millions of people with jobs and income. Another way that Franklin D. Roosevelt was successful in office was because of his ability to lead America through the start of the World War I. Throughout the start of the World War, Franklin D. Roosevelt was able to serve as a leader for the military and he made treaties with various countries throughout the war. Given these examples,

Theodore Roosevelt was a good President during the progressive movement because he made the Square Deal, the meat inspection act, and he supported African Americans. The goal of the progressive was to fight for women’s rights. First, Roosevelt was a good President during the progressive movement because of the Square Deal that he created. The Square Deal that he created stated that he would not favor a specific group meaning he would be fair to everyone. The Square Deal was made on three basics to protect the customer, control of the large corporations, and the conservation of natural resources.
As his platform grew it became known as “The Square Deal”, all because of the amazing speech he did give. Roosevelt's ideas for foreign affairs was, “Speak softly and carry a big stick,” as this is still used today we should think hard about what Teddy said about the foreign affairs. There are many things he has done that he could be remembered for. He created several treaties that helped the American Business in the foreign trade and many more great things. Teddy is a man that many may have looked down on but there are many who still looked up to him.
In 1901 the most amazing thing that ever happened to America took place. On October 27, 1858 Theodore Roosevelt was inaugurated. Unfortunately, this did not occur on the best of terms. He was vice president to William McKinley. He was fatally shot a month before.
For example, he rallied America against Nazi Germany and Japan right after the Great Depression. He also established the U.S. Social Security System. Another point is that he was the longest serving president in U.S. history. You have to be a really good leader in order to be elected as president four times and serve 12 years (he died soon after he was elected for his fourth term). He reshaped the American presidency to look and act more like the caretaker of the people.
Teddy roosevelt was sick when he was born, he had asthma but he overcame the sickness, he was home-school and he became a lifelong naturalist before attending harvard college, he is the youngest president in America, he was president in 1901-1909. when the assassination of former president William Mckinley Teddy Roosevelt has contributed many things in American society. He has brought wealth to the economy and has had boosted the military, and speaking about the military he was with the Rough riders and he was a lieutenant in the Spanish-American war. During his campaign he was shot during his speech in Milwaukee and finished the speech how incredible and he sent his message that day plus if think the person that shot him was arrested.
He did a good job of going out to the public and taking initiatives to put Americans back to work and rebuild their confidence in the economy. The programs he created such as the Civilian Works Administration, and the Civilian conservation corps helped people get jobs. He also aimed to protect and assist farmers and fair wages. I think Roosevelt tried to bring immediate and drastic changes to the economy so that they can overcome depression.
Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only U.S. president to be elected four times. He led the United States through the Great Depression and World War II. What a mighty man he was. I choose President Franklin D. Roosevelt for my Research because he was diagnosed with polio disease and his disease is actually still a mystery due to lack of technology at the time.
Roosevelt was a famous man who achieved many things throughout his life. Before becoming president, he was the assistant secretary of the Navy from 1913 to 1920 (Degregorio 486). He was elected governor of New York in 1929 and was elected president in 1932 (Gregory 10). FDR was a well respected president who served for four terms. While in office, he started a program called The New Deal which provided federal relief to help get the country out of the depression (Degregorio 498).
