Varian Fry was a 32 year old Graduate from Harvard and editor from New York City. In France, Varian was an American Journalist who helped save thousands of endangered Nazi refugees who were caught in the French zone escape from the Nazis during the second World War. Fry put his time and effort to a mission that saved millions of Jews. Varian Fry had arrived to France within 24 hours and wasn't going to stop until he saved the Jews. He spent 3000 dollars on his prisoners which he used to establish visas. Varian Fry had tons of courage and bravery to do the things he did. He had won many of awards for what he did. Fry had stayed in France for 13 months. He was under constant surveillance and more than once was accompanied and questioned by the authorities. The people did not know who this man was because he came to France unknown, and they did not know what he was doing. Fry took a big risk doing this. He could of been killed on the spot or punished from going to France during the time of the war as an unknown character. They could have thought that he was here to hurt France or people in it, therefore he could of been killed. Because all of Varian Fry’s work and ideas of how to help the Jews in the Holocaust, Varian Fry had a huge influence on the outcome of the Holocaust.
