Austria-Hungary, Germany, the Ottoman Empire and Italy joined an alliance and was called the Central Powers. England, France, and Russia joined alliance and was called the triple alliance. Germany’s main weapon was called the Untersee Boat and were deadly.
The Triple Alliance was made up of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. The Triple Entente comprised Great Britain, France, and Russia. These alliances had no idea that the other existed but, sooner or later they would figure out each other's presence. According to Raymond Aron Germany decided to attack France which caused Russia to start battles on the east side (Document 7). The action that Germany took led up to a chain reaction of battles.
While the United States proclaimed itself as a neutral country in the beginning of the devastating first World War, many disagree with the statement that America wanted to remain neutral for various reasons. World War I began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, then quickly escalated to division into two sides between European countries; including the Allied Powers, which consisted of Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and the Central Powers that included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. Since the United States made it obvious they favored the Allied Powers before they entered World War I, the other countries against these nations took this friendliness between the countries and America as a threat and interference of war. This resulted in the Central Powers noticing an unfair disadvantage for themselves.
Alliances had been put in place in order to balance power and prevent a world war to ever happen. Alas, the conflict between Austria-Hungary and Serbia was not prevented at all. The conflict was what pushed forward the war and caused countries to call for more alliances. This had gotten more and more nations involved in what started as a small conflict to a war. Countries started declaring war on eachother until it was, what some might call, a bar fight.
Document A ‘‘European Alliances, 1914’’ shows us the different types of alliances that nations had with each other. Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy were known as the Triple Alliance. There was also the Triple Entente, an alliance between France, Great Britain and Russia. Alliances helped cause the war because nations would be against each other and they would also want to be dominant. Although there were many reasons that caused World War I, Militarism, Imperialism, and Allies were the main factors.
The United States was not neutral in World war one. Although the US did not join the war until 1917; when the war started in 1914, and they labelled themselves as neutral they subconsciously did things and made request that ultimately helped the Allied powers which were Great Britain, France, Russia, and Italy. A few examples of the actions that they took were the censoring of wireless news which only affected Germany because England still used cables, the searching for and arrest of Germans or austrians on American ships due to them being “neutral”. Another thing the United States did was the allowing of countraband on their ships as long as it was not signed to the government, which helped England but gave little t no help to Austria and
One of the reasons why this alliance was formed was so they could help each other when the Axis powers attacked. The Allies also had an enemy almost as strong as them, The Axis Powers. The Axis Powers were a very deadly group of countries and were a very strong alliance. This alliance included 3 main countries, Germany, Japan and Italy. When the first treaty was made it was called the “Pact Of Steel” that made Germany and Italy an alliance on May 22 1939.
Within the next couple weeks, every major country in Europe was pitted against one another leading to two major sides of the Great War; The Triple Entente which consisted of Britain, France, Russia, and later the United States; The other side called the Triple Alliance which united Germany, Austria- Hungary, and Italy. This was the start of World War 1and peace among all was officially
Alliances are formed for different reasons such as the need for financial or military support, trade agreements, investments or loans. Alliances became strong in the early 1800s when european nations either wanted to support French dictator Napoleon Bonaparte or they wanted to defeat him. Alliances weakened in the mid 1800s, but strengthened again in the late 1800s. The Triple Alliance of 1882 was an alliance between Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy, fueled by anti- French and anti-Russian feelings. The Triple Entente of 1907 was a three way agreement between Britain, France, and Russia.
The most well-known countries that were our allies were Great Britain, France, China, and The Soviet Union. The reason why countries joined with the allies was because (for certain countries like France) they didn't
Large alliances formed, such as the triple entre (France, the UK, and Russia) and the central powers (Austria-Hungary, German Empire, and Italy) The alliances gave military support to each member, but would also drag all the countries in one alliance to war if war was only declared on one nation (http://europeanhistory.about.com/od/worldwar1/a/World-War-One-The-Major-Alliances.htm). During the July crisis, the Austria-Hungarian empire asked if Germany would help them in the war against Serbia. Germany replied back and said they’d give them full support. Austria started to mobilize their army against Serbia, and since Russia was allied with Serbia.
In the tides leading up to this event, the countries of Europe began to erect alliances, and lead to a pin of two groups of alliances. These two alliances where know as the Triple Entente, which consisted of Great Britain, France and Russia; and the Triple Alliance, which consist of Germany,
When the six major powers of Europe get in war, it is not like any other war. Early in 1914, France, Britain and Russia formed the Triple Entente, and declared war against the Triple Alliance (Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy), which was later known as the World War I. The Cultural Impact of World War 1 during the war and immediately after it, was more significant than any other war. The Horrific and senseless World War I reported around 37,468,904 casualties (Encyclopedia Britannica), this seriously influenced talented artists, writers and musicians around the world who had answered their nations' call to join the Army, or suffered directly from war terrors at their hometowns. On the other side of the battle The Triple Entente consisted of Germany, Turkey, and Austria-Hungary and there leaders Kaiser Wilhelm II, Franz Josef I, and Mustafa Kemal. World War I was fought between Great Britain and Germany for three long years, but once the fourth came America entered the war. Once America entered the war it all went downhill for Germany, Austria, and Turkey. When America first arrived to fight in the war they were called the doughboys, however it was not because we were fat it's because we came in to the war late after three years of trench warfare.
Munich, Germany is where the Nazi Party was formed in 1920. Munich was a major industrial and transport center and that is what made this city a major target for the allied bombers. Munich also created the first concentration camp 10 miles west of the city. Munich was important to the rise of Nazism and the Nazis called Munich the “Capital of Movement.” The Nazi Headquarters were also located in Munich.
