THE RESULT OF ADDING DIFFERENT SUBSTANCES TO ROCKET FUEL.
Name: Gareth Murdoch/Devan Garland
Teacher: Mr Adams
Class: Grade 9A
Introduction
The reason we chose this project was to find out what an inexpensive way to make rocket fuel for Mini projects and to experiment to find what substance you can add to make the fuel more effective in speed and burning rate.
Investigative Question
How do different substances affect the burning of rocket fuel?
Hypothesis
Water makes the rocket fuel burn quicker.
Variables
Independent Variable - The amount of potassium nitrate used.
Dependent Variable – Amount of white sugar used.
Controlled Variable – Heat of stove.
Method
1. Pour 40g of sugar into a pot.
2. Pour 60g of potassium nitrate into the same pot.
3. Cook the mixture until caramelised.
4. Get the container of

Discussion and Conclusion and Relevance
Discussion
What do my results mean?
It means that the more potassium nitrate you add to the mixture the faster the rocket fuel will burn.
How could I improve my experiment?
I could improve my experiment by:
• Measuring the temperature of the stove before placing the pot on it
• By weighing the quantity of Potassium Nitrate instead of measuring it out
What were the sources of error?
• Temperature of the stove
• Amount of sugar
What would be the next step further
The next step further would be to make a rocket and test the effectiveness of the fuel
