How Do Electric Cars Affect The Environment

2013 Words9 Pages

Everyone says that electric cars reduce pollution, but is that true? How do electric cars affect the environment? It is possible that the electric cars almost double the impact on global warming that cars with gasoline engines. This is because an electric car uses a lot of energy because that’s how the cars move and all the parts that are required are made using energy. Most of this energy (this is similar with a lot of countries) is made from burning fossil fuels. This is also mainly because of the lithium-ion battery as it uses raw materials and energy is needed to build this battery. So in a way, the electric car is a step in the wrong direction to stop global warming getting worse. It is at least expected that after using/driving your car for 150,000km you get a 25% improvement but this isn’t necessarily true in many countries. Electric cars aren’t as environmentally friendly as they were set out to be as for example, in the UK, 40% of their electricity is generated from coal. It’s the same with China as they get almost all its power using coal (that’s why their country is so polluted). Because of this, conventional cars are polluting far less that electric cars (this is in China). We unfortunately get most of our electricity with the most polluting and harmful way. That is by using coal, therefore, the environmental advantages for electric cars have really decreased. In a country like Norway, however, …show more content…

Some benefits are definitely my chemistry section. This is because I wrote a lot of information on itn. I explained everything probably way more than it was necessary. This is was so that I did extensive necessary grounding and chemistry had that all covered. Another benefit would be that the electric car is well-known. This is a benefit because there were a lot of website that I could have used to find my answers, I wasn’t in a position where I didn’t have any websites and I spent forever looking for them How reliable were my
