In the article “Zoos connect us to the natural world” Micheal Hutchins focuses on using persuasive techniques to make claims about the relevance as well as the gained knowledge from zoos. For instance, with dependable recourses, Michael Hutchins uses his ethos to support the claim that, “Zoos connect us to the natural world”. Lastly, Michael Hutchins uses ethos to support the claim. Secondly, with the use of factual proven resources, Hutchins uses logos to support his claim that zoos connect us to the natural world. For instance, the text states, “Today, more than 90 percent of mammals housed in accredited facilities were born in zoos and not taken from the wild “(974). This exemplifies how logos are symbolized through the use of loaded words. The author includes this in the article to show that zoos aren’t taking animals away from their wildlife habitat. Furthermore, the text states, “In zoos, over 140 million people visit AZA zoos and aquariums, more than attending all professional baseball, football, basketball, and ice hockey games combined” (975).
