“We used to live in a world were there people, private citizens, a world where there are businesses, and now we’re living in a world where people can become businesses in 60 seconds.” Brian Chesky, the CEO to company Airbnb, states his view about the inevitable take-over of the sharing economy. This kind of economy is one where people come together and collaborate in order to rent, borrow, or trade goods and services. Airbnb, a company under this sharing economy, was founded by Chesky, Joe Gebbia, and Nathan Blecharczyk. What came from a small company that started up by blowing air mattresses for guests in 2007, turned massive eight years later, to where more than 20 million hosts worldwide share their homes to guests. Dany Papineau is one of these hosts, and has created a website centered around Airbnb and secrets that he posts to help people become successful hosts and great guests. The video advertising Airbnb, as well as his website, was published on YouTube. The words that most represent the jargon regarding this topic are ‘people,’ ‘rent,’ and ‘hospitality.’ These three words are used most frequently to describe Airbnb, and how it’s changed the travel industry. They are used also in the mash-up of interviews with the Airbnb co-founder. During the ending sequence, the language is also much more casual. Papineau’s voice seems soft and soothing, and he tells his story and circumstance that led him to Airbnb.
