Jane Eyre is a novel written by Charlotte Bronte at the Victorian age. She uses autobiography elements and realistic image of the atmosphere of the Victorian period. Bronte criticizes in her novel the society of the Victorian times and what she does not like; also, she wants to convey something very important to that male dominated society, which is to respect working women, to give them their rights and to be equal with men. In addition, Bronte wants the women to be independent, and this is what the main character in her novel Jane is. An independent woman for Jane is a woman with morality, religion, should be educated, like any other lady and a woman that can support herself. The elements of literature is used in this novel, and the techniques are what I am going to concentrate about in this research. When the events get hard to excite the reader. Here Bronte is able to show a suspense scene in the mysterious roof in Rochester's house. Jane is told to stay out from a specific roof in Rochester's house and this will make the readers curious about what is exactly in that roof that Rochester does not want Jane to see. When the fire starts suddenly at the house gives an action element to the novel. The horrible noises that Jane hears, until she comes to think that there is someone watching her in her bedroom and while she walks in the house. Also, When Jane discovers that Rochester is a married man it was a shock for her, because in Christian, the man cannot get married again if he has wife already, and it appears that Rochester is married to
