Lots of children growing up have been told every story has a problem and a solution. So when someone asks can there be progress without problems and conflict? No, conflict is how every human grows. Jack from Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a great example of change produced by conflict. Jack goes from smart schoolboy to a shameless scoundrel.Following Antigone by Sophocles the king, Creon gets everything taken from him due to not listening to the rules of the gods,through a harsh period of time filled with conflict Creon finally gains his wits. So it's safe to say Conflict is a necessary component of life; Without challenges, humans would never grow as a person.
Lord of the flies is a perfect showing of a character progressing with the use of conflict. Such as all the conflicts had quite the negative change on Jack,the leader of the hunters. He was a perfect example of a unfit ruler through the use of conflict and became a more proper ruler for the people of thebes.Creon was a selfish ruler who believed his rules were better than the rules of the gods and with that mindset the gods wanted to teach him a lesson by slowly killing everyone he loved.Once that happens he thinks about why all this pain has been brought upon him and he realizes and says “Lead me away. I Have been rash and foolish. I have killed my son and my wife. I look for comfort; my comfort lies here dead. Whatever hands have touched has come to nothing.
