In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, we meet a character named Jay Gatsby, we see how he can’t move on and how he is stuck in the past. Reading The Great Gatsby made me realize that I am going to have to move on in life and you can't stay in the past or it will hurt more than you realized. Many scenes show that Jay Gatsby is stuck in the past and that he can't move on, and we see closer to the end of the book that this affects him. In the story, we see how Gatsby loves Daisy even after not seeing her for years. Daisy has since moved on and is now married to Tom Buchanan. When Gatsby and Tom are in an argument about Daisy, she tells Tom” I did love him once--but I loved you too’’(132).
