“I realize that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop.” On September 20th 2014, Emma Watson, a well known British actress said this as part of her speech launching the UN Women's HeForShe campaign. Her speech was about how gender stereotypes affect both men and women and how we should work together in order to change sexism. The speech's purpose was to galvanize boys and men to join the movement. I think Watson used ethos, pathos, and logos effectively to make a convincing argument.
Logos is the ancient Greek word meaning “word.” Logos focuses on the message and appeals to logic and reason, and it often uses data to support its claim (cite). In Watson’s speech one example where she uses logos is when she says, “for the record, feminism by definition is: “The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.
