Erick Rapkins Perspective On The World War One

Erick Rapkins journey to become a soldier of the Australia and New Zealand army corps all started where is was born in a small town in New South Wales called Duranbah in 26th of August 1891. Before Erick enlisted into the war he was a Cane Cutter for the Tweed River. After that at the age of twenty three he enlisted into the war on the twenty first of October nineteen fourteen. Erick Rapkins found himself with six hundred other Australians and New Zealanders, They were apart of the fourth Brigade. Eric's departed from western Australia for his long blood filled journey to Egypt, The fourth Brigade left on new years eve 1915 January 1st. Which caused to make a lot of men sick because of the sand blowing everywhere his fellow soldiers were dying of a rate of three men per day. After training in Egypt for two months before they set sail to the front lines they returned to Alexandria on April 12th, After that the fourth Brigade set sail for Lemnos in which is a island of the coast of Greece the troops started to train some more to try get prepared for what was awaiting them. Erick Rapkins got really unlucky before he went to embark on his journey to gallipoli why he was struck with rheumatic fever which caused him excruciating pain most of his body was hurting and he was not in good shape at all he was very unhappy about being hospitalised so close to his departure. Erick was hospitalised for four-five days His doctor said that you can leave this bed now but you won't be any better or go later, But he got released before his brigade went to Gallipoli to fight for his …show more content…

Eric was still really tired the turks tired to take the trenches of the ANZACS but failed that was another night sleep for the men gone. Eric was thinking about how he might lose all his mates by the time the war is over because most of them were either severely injured or sadly dead. Only one person out of his tent that he was meant to sleep in to get rest. Meanwhile all the fighting and trying to survive Eric was doing he was still sick and had a really bad fever so he was in and out of the medical
