Scott Fitzgerald this novel will tell a story based on a man’s past about a man named Jay Gatsby ,a farmer turned millionaire, who chases after his American Dream which is his lover Daisy Buchanan who he met in the past that ends up leading Gatsby to his demise in pursuit of her. The definition of the American Dream according to Fitzgerald is to be wealthy and an impossible dream to get. The attractions about the American Dream is that you can dream and aim to achieve anything in life in any way you want to but the pitfalls of the American Dream is that it is impossible to achieve them and many die in pursuit of these dreams. Just as Gatsby pursuited his American Dream which was Daisy he got all the jewels in life but in the end he didn’t know that the American Dream was way behind him resulting in his death without getting the woman of his dreams. Gatsby’s extent went as far as to letting him take the full blame of the death of Myrtle. In the end resulting in Mr. Wilson thinking that Gatsby was the one Myrtle was messing with but in reality it was Tom Buchanan yet he lived and is still with Daisy. Daisy couldn’t really leave Tom for Gatsby and he paid the price for chasing after a dream that he couldn’t really get because his Green Light was already past him.
