It is common knowledge that royalty all together hold the respect and dignity of the country they represent. There are many princes in this world who do have the peoples respect and have earned it by acting appropriately to other. However, there is one famous prince, perhaps the most famous prince in history, that does not deserve respect that the people give him. He is not loyal to his family or to the people he represents. He is constantly making accusations about people, who have done nothing wrong, and disrespects his mother. This prince is none other than Shakespeare’s, Prince Hamlet. After the way he treats his friends and family, Hamlet does not deserve respect. He does not feel guilty when he wields death onto others. After killing Polonius Hamlet askes “Is it the King?” then shrugs it off when he finds out it is not. Hamlet goes back to yelling at his mother. The casual way that he put a side death shows us that he is not compassionate. when you do not feel sorry about a death that you did not mean to do, you do not deserve respect from others. In Act V scene 2 is it shown that the king poisons the Queen. In Hamlets fit of rage, he kills the King by stabbing him with a poisoned sword and makes him drink the rest of the poison that killed the queen (Shakespeare). Hamlet does this out of rage, fury, and passion that he cannot control. Killing a king is one of the most disrespectful things you can do. You do not only disrespect the king, but the people the king ruled. Hamlet will never gain the respect of Denmark simply because he killed there last king openly and publicly.
