What traits do heros hold, that lead them to overcome adversity? Homer’s epic, The Odyssey, is a mythical story that uses similes and epithets. In the novel, Odysseus, a wise Greek hero is leading his men from Troy to Ithaca. Odysseus’ most important quality is intellect. Odysseus outsmarts the Cyclopes and escapes the supernatural foe by using his intelligence.
The description of a hero can be different among many people. Some may say a hero has to be courageous, smart, and strong, but they don’t talk about the flaws a hero may possess. Odysseus portrays very obvious flaws in the epic The Odyssey. When I look more into Odysseus’ flaws as a character, I do not see Odysseus as admirable. When reading The Odyssey, the many obstacles that Odysseus faces and defeats shows him to be courageous and clever.
Odysseus had shown a significant amount of traits, but there were two that were most frequently shown. One of the traits he had as a hero, is his strength. When he reached King Anolouses island, everyone was very confused about his identity. Until he got invited to play a frisbee competition.

The obvious characteristics include godlike strength and bravery. They typically have an appearance that attracts those around them. Greek heroes, unlike modern day heroes, were selfish as they only cared about their honor and glory. Greek heroes are destined to live a short life, so they avoid running away from battle in hopes to obtain the greatest honor. Because heroes care so much about their pride and glory, they perform an act of hubris before they meet their tragic fate.
Many know about the idea of the "monomyth," or the hero's journey as an outline for many of our modern books, movies, t.v. series, etc. Joseph Campbell's definition for the hero's journey is, "the quintessential (or best example) of an archetypal myth. " The Disney film Hercules is one of the best examples of Joseph Campbell's monomyth. For instance step one of the hero's journey outline is the Ordinary world. Hercules was born the son to Zeus and Hero.
Hercules was the most famous hero in ancient greece, he was strong confident and courageous and he solved problem with brawn not brain; he slew person after person army after army and monster after monster. This made him know as the hero he is today. Hercules was also known for zeus’s son, the hero created the great olympics with alcmene. These games were in honor of the famous zeus. Hercules was very famous and one of the best known gods to human, everyone knew who he was.
In the movie Hercules, the character Hercules is a hero. He was born as a god and was the son of Zeus and Hera but that isn’t why he is a hero. If you have watched the movie Hades turns Hercules into a human. That is why being a son of Zeus and Hera doesn’t make Hercules a god it’s his characteristics and traits. Bravery, strong, and fearless are just some of Hercules’s characteristics and traits.
The hero has extraordinary strength, being the strongest man on earth he is sometimes he is unaware of the power he posses, Hercules is invulnerable. Although worshiped as a God, he was properly a hero. In his early years, Hercules defeated Thebes from the armies of a neighboring city. Since he was young

Hercules shows that he is a hero through the task he completes in the movie and the Myth. The different archetypes show that Hercules is two different characters in the movie and the myth.
The qualities that heroes should have are smarts so they can get out of tough situations such as if the villain traps them in a bind. The other thing they need to be cunning to use their skills to escape or evade their enemies. They should be fearless because if they're not fearless they might die because they would freeze up from the fear. Also they need to be strong physically and mentally if they're not strong they couldn't get out of difficult situations. Odysseus is not a typical hero because he’s unfaithful to his wife, he’s arrogant, and he puts his crew in terrible situations where most of them will die, though he still has all the qualities a hero should possess.
In this analysis my main focus would be: why Hercules was famous in Greek Myth? , how did he impact the world and its society? and what lessons can be learnt from him? Hercules, the son of Zeus, was very famous in Greek mythology because he slayed the unbeatable nine headed hydra and the famous Nemean lion. When he was a kid he strangled and killed two venomous snakes with his bare hands and also he was the only warrior in Greek myth who was half god and half human.
The Iliad also spotlights the individual qualities of a greek hero or non-hero. Numerous characters in the Iliad demonstrated exceptional qualities of a greek person that was valued such as bravery and helpfulness and that was disproved of like selfishness. One trait that is highly appreciated by the greeks
No matter what is thrown at him he never stops trying to get home, getting past a Cyclopes, the Lady Circe, and sirens. He even gets through the Underworld and lives. Despite this, Odysseus does have faults about him, though not as many as there are qualities. He is a worldwide symbol, an archetype, of both nobility and bravery. Odysseus, the epic hero of the Odyssey, a great leader with many attributes as well as flaws, is no ordinary man.
Though he may be ridiculously unintelligent and emotionally unstable, he had a burning passion for justice and making things right. No matter how many people he had accidently killed, he always made it right by doing more and more good deeds. He was constantly working to become the best man he could. Though he couldn’t think properly, he was a man of his word. Hercules and Theseus both did great deeds, but Hercules just achieved more because of his strength.
