In this paper I will discuss the famous Hip Hop artist “T.I”; I will go over his life, his struggles with the law, upbringing, awards and his music. I will then discuss why his lifestyle causes unnecessary interactions with the law. I will then talk about the Hip Hop industry and how it relates to violence and how it affects the young people and me personally. My overall goal of this essay is to show that the hip hop culture has relations to gang violence and drugs. Nevertheless, instead of ongoing his label with his partners, T.I wanted to expand by himself and make more money. Mr. Harris founded his own recording company, which is known as Grand Hustle. It surprised everyone when it sold over 19000 copies which also got some TV airing time. Now choosing to link with Atlantic Records, T.I. quickly developed "Trap Muzik" in 2003. All his hard work and late night hours of being in the studio paid off after getting continuous recognition on Billboard’s top chart. It helped him earn “platinum” status from RIAA. Trying to get better and better known, T.I collaborated with already famous artistes such as B.G., Nelly, and the ever famous Lil Wayne which help him top the charts again. They idolize famous rappers like Young Jezzy, Drake and Lil Wayne and see all the fancy cars, the beautiful women and the money. Although rap/hip hop music sounds great to most the content of it sucks! It is effecting young teens today and it relates to the uprising of violence in America. Most rap music talks about money, sex and drugs and if someone does you wrong, you must hurt them. In an experiment, seven hundred fifteen- year- olds were forced to listen to your average rap music. 1/3 listens to sexually explicit lyrics and the rest listened to degrading lyrics about sex. When the teens were asked about what they remembered most about the lyrics, a huge majority of them talk about sex in a degrading manner. The result showed how negative rap music really is. Numerous amounts of studies show that ever since rap became popular, young teens got arrested for drugs more and more every year. In a lot of rap music, there are a lot of talk about alcohol and drugs which causes young teens to be curious about and to try them at a young age.
