It seems as if holden is searching for something throughout the course of this novel. Some might argue that holden is trying to seek love from others. In the novel catcher in the rye by Jd Salinger we learn about Holden Caulfield’s character and how his mood changes throughout the story. The novel starts out with holden writing in an underground mental hospital. Many were to believe throughout the novel that when holden’s younger brother allie passed away with leukemia and holden punched a glass window, he had scratches and cuts and bleeding all down his arms so his parents thought he was trying to hurt himself. He always felt that people were being phoneys and not understanding what his struggles were. From losing his brother to being confused as to what he wanted relationship wise it was a long hard struggle that even the person reading the book could understand how hard it was for Holden. He has peculiar behavioral tendencies, his emotions that are building up inside of him prevents him from interacting with the world and the people around him. The way that holden speaks throughout the novel one can tell that holden shows signs of depression. He relay a deep feeling of sadness that i do not believe he knows he is showing. Sometimes when one feels sad they feel alone and like there is nobody that would be able to understand what they are going through, and it is not easy to talk to people about certain things and this is coming from personal experience my self. Usually people that are facing these problems are down on themselves and feel like they are not good enough and sometimes don’t even know how to describe the emotions they are feeling that ar built up inside of them and i feel that is what holden is going
