Impact of Human Activities on The Hydrological Cycle and how to Mitigate Them
Introduction
The hydrological cycle is the water passes from vapor in the atmosphere through precipitation upon land or other water surfaces and ultimately back to the atmosphere as a result of evaporation or transpiration.
According to study.com, water moves from one storage to another; from rivers to oceans in liquid form, from the land and other surface storages as liquid and finally back to the atmosphere as gas (vapor). (study.com)
The hydrological cycle is important as it serves to control and maintain proper water levels in the oceans, provide rain which is important for food production and maintenance of vegetation and climate regulation.
Notable impact to the hydrological cycle is by affecting the quality of water or by reducing the quantity of water in the cycle.
Most considerable impacts made on water by humans
As water passes through the atmosphere, it comes into contact with various soluble and insoluble materials. These materials have an effect on the quality of water. It can either get contaminated, meaning that there will be presence or introduction of unwanted materials into it, or get polluted which is basically the presence or introduction of seriously high levels of contaminants into
