For existentialists, emotions or moods play a central role. Emotions are viewed as a sensuous presentation as well as a cognitive experience of human finitude. Existentialists contributed to emotions by claiming that moods signify the relation of oneself to the world, where the emotion of anxiety for example signifies freedom.
