You’ve most likely heard the FM music stations around the city, but due to the Canadian Content law (which makes sure around 35% of the content that is broadcasted is Canadian) and the Americanization that influences Canada more than any other place (because we are neighbouring countries with the same language), we don’t get to hear new types of music and learn about other cultures (despite being called the most diverse country in the world). On the other side of the world are two huge music industries you may have never heard of. Chinese pop (Cpop) and Korean pop (Kpop). Tons of huge companies followed by hundreds of millions of fans, The music industries in Asia are certainly unlike any you have seen. The main focus of this presentation is Kpop, Kpop’s amazing audiovisual aesthetics are sweeping the world off its feet with its unbelievable popularity (Known as the Korean Wave).
