Many people have been hurt by other people and death. The book, The Book Thief is about Liesel Meminger and how she deals with all this hurt and death around her. This character essay is about her because I liked how resilient she was to other people’s words and all the death and destruction. I really enjoyed reading about her and her experiences especially how she dealt with her want to be able to read. Liesel was a great character and she learns many lessons throughout the book, and it was fun to learn them with her. Liesel was a great character because she was brave and resilient throughout the book. Even when she was nine years old and her brother died she believed she could have a good life with her new family, even without having her brother for the journey with her. She was also brave whenever her whole neighborhood blew up and she was the only one who survived. Even with all her family and her friends dead, she was still brave and eventually got through it. She never stopped trying to read, she spent countless nights practicing and trying to figure out how to read. Even though it was hard she never gave up, she stayed up every night practicing with her papa. Even when she was embarrassed in front of all her classmates because she couldn’t read because of how nervous she was, she still pushed so that she could at least try to read in front of the class. It didn’t stop her even knowing that her classmates were making fun of her for not being able to read if anything it pushed her further to read and practice even
