Over time many speakers uses rhetorical strategies to persuade their audiences. Powerful figures such like Mark Anthony, and Martin Luther King have solidified their place in history for there persuasive skills and the use of rhetoric stages such like pathos and ethos. In The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar, William shakespeare, Mark Antony uses Ethos and pathos in the funeral speech to advise the audience, when Caesar died. Dr. Martin Luther KIng speech, “I Had A Dream” was given to a crowd of 200,000 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C, stating how all men are equal. Pathos appeal dominantly takes part of the upper hand in terms of similarities throughout the two Speeches.
In the play Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, the character Cassius gives a speech to his brother Brutus about why he should kill and replace Caesar . During this speech he uses the three forms of rhetoric persuasion: Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. Ethos establishes moral credibility, Logos appeals to and shows logic, Pathos reaches out to one's emotions. An important one is Ethos.

Antony’s Speech Using Rhetorical Appeals In William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, after Caesar’s death, the Romans are conflicted about what should be done. After Brutus’ speech the Romans are ready to crown Brutus king and be on the conspirators’ side. Though Brutus then leaves the crowd while Antony delivers his speech, the crowd realizes what should be done of Caesar’s murder and Antony prevents the conspirators from getting away with the murder of Caesar.
Julius Caesar got stabbed and he had bled out so he got killed. Cassius, Brutus, and the other conspirators stabbed him because they did not want him to get the crown and to become powerful. Brutus gave a speech to show everyone how ambitious Caesar was. Brutus was getting the people what they wanted, like freedom and peace. Cassius also gave a speech after Caesar died and said that he did Caesar a favor by killing him because he wouldn’t have to worry about dying.

While both the speeches were well spoken, Mark Antony’s ended up being the better speech.
