Power, it is the most sought after quantity. Power can unite people together or disintegrate them. The kindest people on Earth can be corrupt if they had too much dose of power. ‘’To Kill A Mockingbird’’ expresses this abuse of power in its rich and delicate storyline. The setting takes place in Maycomb, Alabama. We see the story in the eyes of Jean Louis a.k.a. Scout. In this story, Tom Robinson (a Negro) is convicted of raping Mayella Ewell (a Caucasian) After this case Tom is pleaded guilty and dies in prison after he got shot. Seeing how Mayella Ewell easily took a life away from a young Black man, a question is posed throughout the end. ‘’Is Mayella Powerful’’ In the story, Mayella is outclassed in almost every category except race. Tom lives in a better cabin than Mayella. (Document A) ‘’Maycomb’s Ewells lived…in what was once a negro cabin.’’ From this text we can assume that Tom lived in a better house than the Ewells because they lived in what was maybe his old house. Tom Robinson probably moved to a better house while the Ewellls had to live in the only house that no one took (a broken down house) (Document A) ‘’What passed for a fence was bits of tree limbs, broomsticks and tool shafts…’’This is what makes the Ewells the poorest of the poor and Tom a middleclass man. Therefore, Tom Robinson outclasses Mayella in
