On August 29, 1958 "The King of Pop" was born. Michael Jackson, the singer, song writer, actor, and dancer was the most inspiring person of the 80's in music. He is the most inspiring not only for his daringness on stage during a performance or in his music, but also the way he revolutionized the way of dance. Michael Jackson knew he was not like the other kids form a young age. He knew he was different. He just did not know how he was different and that his different, was actually a good different. Michael's father, Joe Jackson, was a crane operator in the 50's. He lived in Gary, Indiana. His mother, Katherine Scruse, from Alabama, but was living in East Chicago when she met Joe. Their first contest was in 1964, Michael was only nine and performing in bars and clubs with his brothers. At just nine years old, in between sets, Michael's father would put him in a closet. He did this so he could go off and "have fun" in the club or in the bar without Michael seeing. If they were sick and had a show that night, their father would still make them perform. They started to tour the "Chitlin Circuit." The "Chitlin Circuit" was a series of black venues throughout the United States. They would open for many top R&B artists along the circuit.
