one of the devices she uses is figurative speech she uses, personification. Personification is when an idea or thing is presented as having human qualities, an example of her using this successfully is when she states, “I hear him leading his horse out of the stall”, or, I will not give him a leg up.” She is referring to death as being cruel and Frightening. Also, describes death as having human qualities, such as being able to walk Another way she's uses figurative speech is that she uses onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is the formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named and she expresses onomatopoeia twice in the poem and says, “I hear the clatter on the barn floor” the portion of the poem that uses onomatopoeia is the sound the host make on the ground what she uses the word clatter which is an onomatopoeia The third way she uses figurative speech is she uses repetition. Repetition is a literary device that repeats the same words or phrases a few times to make an idea clearer. And she uses it throughout the poem she uses the quote “I shall die but that is all I shall do for Death” She repeats this line in the poem twice and is saying I will not do anything for so just kill me
