In the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” Scout shows intelligence and curiosity character traits. Scout shows her intelligence by being able to read at a young age. Since most of the first graders can read scout is the only one who can. After Scout reads the alphabet and Miss Caroline was very surprised. “ she discovered that I was liberated and looked at me with more than faint distaste. Miss Caroline told me to tell my father not to teach me anymore, it would interfere with my reading.” (Lee 19). Scout shows her curiosity by questioning about her life and her community.
