In Born to Run, Michael Morpurgo (Author) shows resilience in many ways, which will be explained in this essay. Morpurgo, shows this by adding backstories and moments where each character gets to shine. This is when Becky got over allies, death and decided to run away so bright eyes did not have to suffer. Morpurgo, did this to really grasp what resilience meant and might’ve been trying to show the audience that resilience is important to have. Joe, the main character in “section 3”, showed resilience by running after Paddywack and never giving up as if the old Paddywack was the one running away, considering that they just met. This story was shown in the book from page 237 End, “Paddywack, Paddywack!” as he was screaming towards Paddywack to come back. Morpurgo, did this to showcase how much Paddywack and Joe had built their relationship over the short period of time. Even so, coming back to the same park they always played together at for months upon months, almost never giving up. We know this is true by, coming back to the book from Page 239, “First Dog Ran off – Best Mate he was called – I looked everywhere for him. It happened right here in the park, I came back every day for months”. Morpurgo, wrote this as he was trying to show how much Patrick loved Best Mate coming back every day. Because of this, Best Mate and Patrick developed a strong relationship with each other. This could’ve been an event for Morpurgo Aswell when he was growing
