At the beginning of the novel Nick begins by telling us that unlike others he does not pass judgement on other people.

Nick describes Tom Buchanan as an extremely wealthy guy yet he is violent, forceful aggressive, arrogant and cruel.

Jordan Baker is the girl Nick thought was snobbish at first but come to find that he does like the confident personality she gives off.

How does the tone of Nick’s description of Tom reveal Nick’s feelings about Tom?

From Nicks description of Tom you can tell that he isn't very fond of him at all. Nick has harsh feelings against Tom because he sees him as a violent and threatening man.

7. How would you describe Daisy’s state of mind during dinner? What does she say and so that helps reveal her inner conflicts?

Daisy seems like a flirtatious and young lady who is wanting attention from anyone and everyone. Once we get set later into the novel we can see that she has an awkwardness to her when she gets a phone call and disappears to Toms house.

8. Nick thinks that, given the state of their marriage, Daisy should leave Tom, but it is clear to him that she has no intention of doing so. What indication is there that Tom and Daisy are closely linked despite their marital difficulties?

Daisy and Tom seem to be set in there way when it comes to their mind. They are both known to be used for money and attention. They are both part of the elite way of living and care to know about how they are viewed by others.

9. What indications are there that the green light will have a powerful emotional significance to
