In the novel, “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe, Okonkwo faces a collision that changes his life completely. The collision of the missionaries had a negative impact on Okonkwo. In Okonkwo’s eyes their religion was destroyed. Not only was Okonkwo banished for seven years, but this religion change up was dreadful for him. I feel Okonkwo is very well rounded of his religion and he expresses his anger of this change through emotions. In the end he shows his hatred of the change with depression, resulting in the hanging of himself. He believes that their original religion should not be interrupted and that they have betrayed the elders.

“It was the first time for many years that a man had broken the sacred peace.” But, he was a fearless and a strong warrior, many people feared Okonkwo due to his outrageous strength. He had lots of confidence and was respected other than when he did unacceptable actions. Okonkwo does not care appeal his cheerful emotions much, but, one thing that Okonkwo does enjoy is nurturing his farm. Okonkwo’s really cared about his farm, growing lots of yams during the planting seasons. Everyday he would work on his plantation, he had lots of love for farming, he even asked Nwakibie for seeds, and unexpectedly, Nwakibie actually reacted by giving him twice the amount Okonkwo expected to get due to Nwakibie thinks that unlike most of the others, Okonkwo is certainly not scared of some hard work. But overall, his emotions were filled with rage; other than the rare moments he escapes from reality, like caring for his farm.
