How Does Park Judge Eleanor's Perspective?

Recommended: Coming f age essay in literature

Unlike others novel, Eleanor and Park have two different character perspective. Throughout the book, their point of view switches back and forth in order for better clarification. In this novel, the genre, coming of age developed between two of the main character. The story begins with Park meeting Eleanor on the school bus. Eleanor left a strong first impression for Park due to the way she dressed. Meanwhile, Eleanor thinks that Park is a weird guy that offers her a seat on her way back home. A theme that I assume will develop is don’t judge the book by its cover and we should always put ourselves in other shoes. Evidence can be found on page 8 from line 1 to line 3 from Park’s perspective,
“Not just new-- but big and awkward. With crazy …show more content…

This can be proven as Park mentioned, ‘she didn’t get what mess she was”. This shows that Park had a bad first impression towards the way she was dressed as he calls her a mess. Moreover, Park regrets his decision of offering Eleanor a seat on the bus and he is thinking ways to avoid her as he assumes that his friends will make fun of him.This can be proven in page 11 from Park’s perspective,
“Park had spent all day trying to think of how to get away from the new girl.”
(Rowell, 2-3) This allows me to foreshadow that throughout the novel, the author will present the love story between Eleanor and Park due to tragic that they had faced at the beginning. On the other side, Due to her family problems, she was forced to transfer to another school which makes her a new student. Therefore, she constantly bullied by others where no one is willing to offer her a seat on her ride back home. At the end, Park actually offers her a seat, where she is doubt whether Park is involved with the group of people who bullied her. This also indicates the theme of judging others based on their appearance. It is because Eleanor is judging Park based on his action of offering her a seat when no one else is doing it. In behalf of that, the relationship between Eleanor and Park will grow closer because they sit next to each other. Evidence
