I believe that peaceful resistance to a law negatively affects the free society of today. In the past, however, the peaceful resistances fought for equal rights in the workplace, politics and society. Today, peaceful protests against laws and political decisions negatively affect the society such as the election and inauguration of President Trump and many of his executive decisions sparked protests and social media speculations impacted society negatively. During the civil rights era, peaceful protests such as the Birmingham Campaign and the March on Washington, where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I have a dream" speech were positive. Men were always placed at the top and women were expected to care for the house or work very little. The women then began to protest against the norms of society and laws preventing them from doing what men are supposed to supply for them. Women became independent and free-willed so throughout the many centuries they created women protests and marches to earn their rights. Little by little, they eventually earned their rights and became more and more equal to men. However, the women's rights protests caused historical failures such as the 18th amendment to the constitution which banned alcohol nationwide. This amendment did not last long for soon after the 21st amendment was created to reverse the 8th amendment. In today's society, women have almost every single right that men have, but some women are still not satisfied. Some illegal companies are against women for safety reasons, but the women's protests today try to protect their rights but often in turbulent ways. The most recent women's rights march in Washington DC fought against President Trump's presidency and ended with celebrity singer Madonna threating to burn the White
