Youth need strong leaders because they need good role models to help them grow. The Jefferson Award is an award that celebrates good people or “heroes” who do great things in their community. One person who deserves recognition for this award is Matt Pettersen. Mr. Pettersen is a seventh-grade teacher and coach at Amery School District. This suggests that patience is a necessary attribute for teachers. Clearly, Matt Pettersen deserves the Jefferson Award because his patience positively affects the attitudes of youth by lowering their stress levels and making them happier. Some people may claim that a counselor deserves the Jefferson Award because they help youth with mental health, but Matt Pettersen is humorous and can also help youth by making them smile and happier.
