Have you ever wondered where our laws In Mississippi come from? It might seem like a law fairy is making them pop up, but unfortunately, that is not exactly what happens. It seems that way to us because state laws are something citizens do not have a large role in. However, someone who does have a large role in deciding these state laws is the State Legislature. With that being the case, there is a whole lawmaking process and inside that process are many important people and steps. To be more specific one of those important people is Phil Bryant, our governor. Bryant also has his own opinion and position on these bills that go through the process.

It would not work without the governor since he has such a large capacity in it.The process is a variety of measures to make sure we have suitable and reliable laws in Mississippi. House Bill 405 is a great example to use in order to explain what a bill goes through in the lawmaking process.. It first was brought into the Mississippi legislature where it was read and reviewed. Then, it was passed and on it’s way to senate where it would be passed for the second time. Next, after the bill was passed by both houses it’s fate was rested in the hand of our governor.Phil Bryant had the choice to either sign it or veto it. The law states, “Mississippi governments and universities and colleges can't prohibit employees or law enforcement from checking someone's immigration status and that no Mississippi government or agency can give legal status to someone in the country illegally.” This is pretty much stating that we are not a sanctuary state. This is a very controversial topic in America at the moment and many people are arguing over it. Although that is the case, I agree that this is the best choice for our state. Although there are many pros to us passing this law, there are also cons. There is no denying that sanctuary cities have some good parts to them, but I do not fully believe they are more a help than a disturbance. Sanctuary cities say they help with illegal immigrants being more comfortable with the law and not as willing to fight because they know they will not be deported. That sounds fine, right? Well if you just are not a sanctuary city at all then you could keep illegal immigrants from our state. This law helps prevent us from bringing in more illegal immigrants. With that being said, I agree with Phil Bryant’s Position on Illegal Immigration in
