In the story "The Scarlet Ibis” by James Hurst The Scarlet Ibis symbolically connects to doodle. Hurst uses symbolism to connect the bird and the boy by explaining the similarities between them. Jackson’s grandson unintentionally swallowed lye some years ago which burned his throat, and he needs the medicine to heal him. During her journey, Jackson encounters several obstacles that she face that remind me of my grandmother who would do anything to help us. The character journey shows her strength to overcome many physical obstacle by presents of courage, strength, and love.
There are many in here, but I think my favorite is her name. The name “Birdie” alone can be two different types of literary devices. The first is imagery. This is a possible option because all she wants to do is fly. Birds fly, so it shows a direct comparison of Birdie to an actual bird.
In “A Worn Path”, enduring is the word that best describes Phoenix because she undergoes issues with her mind, an arduous journey, and a racist man. First of all, Phoenix perseveres through all of the mental problems that she has. The narrator says, “She did not dare to close her eyes, and when a little boy brought her a plate with a slice of marble-cake on it she spoke to him. " That would be acceptable," she said.

Sadness, but possible hope were shown in the story by saying “Silvery flakes of snow drift down towards you in the bright light of the moon.” Snow represents sadness and death, but the snow shimmered in the bright light of the moon, representing hope.
