How Does Prince Hal Character Change

We’ve all had choice makings that have impacted our lives and conflicts were seen within it. Stories tend to show just that, they move along the story and show ways of how that situation changes the characters or character. Prince Hal of William Shakespeare drama, 1 Henry IV, has gone through changes in the story because of situations he has come to live with. He’s first a rebel to his family but proves them wrong towards the end and becomes a person they’d hope he’d be. The saying of this will be proven by the play and decisions themselves. It will also be proven by character development.

In the story, Prince Hal first starts off as someone who is the complete opposite of their family, his father despises him and sees someone else as his son rather than him because of the bad acts that he does which is participating in a group that does robberies. …show more content…

He has also saved his fathers life and ended one of his enemies to keep peace. The text says “Prince Hal goes to court, and a long and serious talk with his father King Henry ensues. Ultimately, Hal to his father: 16. I SHALL HEREAFTER . . . BE MORE MYSELF. I SHALL REDEEM [MYSELF] ON PERCY’S HEAD. - Prince Hal saves his father’s life and ends Hotspur’s.” Although the consequences are clear, Prince Hal has still sacrificed his own safety just for his fathers and for the land of his home. He has not hesitated to save his father with all of the mean words he has said about him, he still loves King Henry although he was seen badly and talked badly about. Prince Hal has shown true leadership of a prince and has shown the characteristics of a hero although he had a bad history. Therefore, Prince Hal has changed and proved it to his father that he’s not just a “bad” person, he has an open mind and won’t hesitate to do what's
