Nick Boomer 10 CP2 English Mrs Bradley 5/12/24 Runaway - Kanye West. Runaway, written and performed by Kanye West and Pusha T, is considered one of the best rap songs of all time. There are 3 main sections of the song, Kanye's verses, Pusha T's verse, and the uneventful yet meaningful outro. Kanye takes us on a tour through his relationship with Amber Rose and subjects like his toxicity, insecurities, and his negative outlook on life. Pusha T similarly talks about relationships in his own way as he goes through his own relationship issues. The last three minutes of the song has no words and is only music and inaudible sounds that can be interpreted in many different ways. In the chorus, Kanye asks for a toast to the douchebags, assholes, and scumbags, implying he is at an event with people like that. In doing this, it makes him recognized as if he is one of them. After the chorus, the song brings us to Kanye's first verse, immediately jumping into his problems with girls and how he is unable to keep a relationship. Following up on the subject of breaking up, he wonders “Split and go where?” Implying there isn't anywhere or anyone else to go to. Later in the verse Pusha T tells his woman that there are many people he could replace her with so she should be happy with what she gets. However, this is combated in the last line of his verse as he admits he is an asshole, the same as the ones Kanye referred to in the chorus, but he isnt sorry, saying he is just “young, rich, and tasteless”. In the final and subjectively the best verse of the song, verse 3 by Kanye, Kanye accepts his toxicity and openly talks about how he realizes what it does to his lover and how difficult his love life can be, with only himself to blame. Kanye starts off the verse by explaining how he “was never much of a romantic” and how he “could never take the intimacy.” With not being
