Universal themes are apparent across time, culture, and place, which are evident in all stories. For example, The Maze Runner, by James Dashner exposes universal themes in a dystopian science fiction society. The Maze Runner portrays universal storytelling elements by emphasizing heroic scenarios, having likable characters, causing a narrative transport, and social cohesion. The theme off the story is successes of doing right and tragedy of doing wrong. The theme is oblivious after reading through the book. Wes Moore wrote in the introduction “our destinies can be determined by a single stumble down the wrong path, or a tentative step down the right one.” I believe this is what he is trying to teach us about humanity through his work. The book show both sides of humanity the dark side and when its at it best.
Themes in a story help to describe what the book is about. It does this in the book Night by helping describe what World War 2 was like for the Jews. It also helps to see what the people in the camps went through. My two themes from night are imprisonment and survival. The first one I will talk about is imprisonment, then i’ll talk about survival.

These books show the differences and similarities between the two totally different main characters in each book, to show Universal Theme. Universal Theme is something that ties all people together no matter who they are or where they live. It is also, a way to show people what and who you are.

Working in a physical labor job may seem like an easy way to make money during the summer for students but in the article "Some Lessons From the Assembly Line" written by Andrew Braaksma and published in 2005 he discusses many reasons why his time working as a temp worker in a factory was "anything but a vacation" (Braaksma 2005). The main theme of “A Sound of Thunder” is that little things can have a big effect. This is shown in the story when the tour guide says, “you, friend, have stepped on all the tigers in that region. By stepping on one single mouse” (291). This shows how the little things in life even though they might not have an effect immediately can cause many things to change and so it is important to make sure you're making the right choices in order to not cause long-lasting effects. Bradbury's theme on individual thought and his theme on technology both use characters, setting, and conflict, but the individual thought theme uses resolution and allusions while the theme on technology uses irony. Bradbury’s theme on individual thought is that individual thought is necessary for a functioning society. It develops through characters, setting, and conflict. The character of Montag is an example of this theme because only when he embraced his individuality did he truly understand how horrible the society was. Later in the novel, when he leaves the society and meets the other people who read, Granger tells him about his grandfather and about how everyone leaves something when they die.

For example in the short story “The Pedestrian” he uses a bunch of literary devices such as internal conflict, static character and more. In “The Pedestrian” leonard mead who is fighting his loneliness by walking but when a copcar sees him it takes him to a psychiatric center but before this happened he despised technology because he said that it ruins people's lives and makes them depreciate the world around them. The author of “the pedestrian“ Ray Bradbury uses many writing techniques to better his story by using them to develop his theme and mood. Furthermore these, examples show that Ray Bradbury is a good writer because he comes up with a well-developed theme/setting with the use of different things.
The theme of a piece of literary work is kind of like a main idea and it could be hidden within the story. In Rikki Tikki Tavi, which was written by Rudyard Kipling, I know that there can be a debate on what the theme could be. The evidence in the text can help aid the reader to understand what the theme is in the piece of literature. That is why I know without a doubt that the theme is “good triumphs over evil.”

“I don’t try to describe the future, I try to prevent it.” (Bradbury) Bradbury’s depictions of the future, written in the 1950’s, explain his motives for writing in a science fiction style with a heavier emphasis on fiction than science. Ray Bradbury influences people in a way that cannot be mimicked. He used fictional stories to deliver an important message that can be applied throughout time. The message is how our actions affect our future today.
Bradbury believes that technology is a benefactor when it comes to the aid of people’s lives. However, Bradbury is also wary of the unintentional hazards technological innovation may cause, and fears technology that seems to replace human responsibility. Bradbury sums up his doubts, stating that technology should never come at the expense of human life. These ideologies are displayed throughout the following short stories: “The Veldt,” “There Will Come Soft Rains,” and “A Sound of Thunder.” Each story contains the underlying theme that technology must be wielded with great care.
