The movie Juno (Jason Reitman, 2007) uses form and elements of mise-en-scéne to convey a comical, yet meaningful and emotional portrayal of a teenage girl facing the trials of pregnancy. Reitman uses narrative form to tell Juno’s story of her teen pregnancy. The narrative movie opens with the word “Autumn” implying that the Juno’s story begins in autumn. Throughout the movie, the change in seasons is announced and represents the development of both Juno’s pregnancy and her character. At the beginning of the movie, Juno is standing in front of a living room chair, a symbol of the beginning of her sexual life and pregnancy. A major theme of the movie is maturity. In the face of a major trial, Juno shows great maturity for a teenager in her decision
