In the first stave of Charles Dickens’ story, A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge didn’t have much enthusiasm for Christmas. He didn't like people mentioning it and curse the ones who did. He found no reason to be merry and celebrate. But, after being visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, and the three spirits of Christmas, Scrooge becomes a changed man. To the Ghost of Christmas Future, he makes a promise that he will honor Christmas whole heartedly and will try to be better all year round. After being scared half to death almost anyone would make such a promise, but Scrooge actually kept to his word. his change was completely his own no one forced it upon him, he could have easily stayed the same and let the awful future happen. Instead he changes and becomes generous, joyful, and fair to everyone. He right off the bat changes the wage of the women working for him from two shillings to ten shillings, and this only started up his good doing. He also asks a boy to go buy the largest turkey possible and gives it to Bob Cratchit. He gives the boy compensation for his trouble, and if he comes back quickly the boy will get a half crown. There are many other instances where his generosity shows. He also becomes joyful, before he had absolutely no joy he was unhappy and his actions would either make people pity him or feel awful as well. He changes and becomes a ball of sunshine. To everyone on the street he greets them and is so pleasant to everyone that it is rubbed off on the bystanders. Something new happened and in some of the conversations he was to come to their homes, which warmed his heart even more. Another way he "keep Christmas well" is in the workplace. He plays a joke on his worker Bob, Scrooge gets to work early and Bob is running a bit late and Scrooge made it seem like he was going to fire him and but instead he gives him a raise. you can see that Scrooges workplace will now be a nice place to
