A Christmas Carol was written by Charles Dickens. The story is about a character named Ebenezer Scrooge. All he cared about was money and himself. He changes throughout the story with the help of three ghosts. Scrooge made a substantial amount of changes.
He appreciated his time with people and realized Christmas was more than he thought. In A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens’ the ghosts teach scrooge, his past doesn’t define him, the true meaning of the holidays, and that his present affects the future so that scrooge can have a chance to change for the better.
Caring for only himself and his wealth, Scrooge perceives Christmas as a waste of time and money. He believes for his own good and others, he would rather be left alone. Through this short novel, Scrooge is visited by three ghosts bringing out his regrets to show what Scrooge really cares about. Dickens illustrates the time with the ghosts to show the effects of greed and being discourteous.

In A Christmas Carol, Dickens tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a man who was once a miserable, greedy man, now quite the opposite. During an unexpected visit from his diseased partner, Jacob Marley, he was told that he would be visited by three ghosts: The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. These ghosts would then take him, one at a time, on portions of a journey of redemption to explore the time periods of which their names suggest, each altering his personality. In the end, Scrooge turns out to be a very happy man, much in contrast to his original self. The people he sees during his journey, being secondary characters, are the main cause of Scrooge’s dramatic alteration.
Scrooge returns home to find the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley confronting him, Marley shows Scrooge the chains and the torture of the afterlife that Scrooge will experience if he doesn’t change his ways, Marley says that 3 spirits will appear once the bell tolls at a certain time, The Ghosts Of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, Marley says that these spirits will haunt Scrooge to change his horrible personality. Finally on the third night at 12:00 a.m, The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come takes Scrooge in the future to multiple scenery where the question of who died lingers, only for the answer to appear in a tombstone with Scrooge’s name carved in it. The three nights were in reality just one night and as a result of the three visits, Scrooge becomes a gentle, kind person with positive morals instilled on him. His transformation seems to be genuine and all it took was to time travel with the three spirits, yet it was the scenes they observed during their travels that played a major role.
